Our recruitment process
What you can expect when you apply for a role with Anthony Nolan
You've spotted our ad 👀
Have a read through the recruitment pack and our website for all the details.
If you have any initial questions before deciding to apply, you can email them to us. In some cases, we might be able to arrange an initial informal call with the hiring manager or our recruitment team.
Apply via our website 💻
We usually require a CV and cover letter, but our application form is as succinct as possible beyond that.
The closing date will be displayed at the bottom of the advert, or we might have stated in the ad that we're reviewing on a rolling basis, in which case you'll want to get your application in ASAP ⏳
Shortlisting 🔎
The hiring team will set to work reviewing applications as soon as they can - your application will always be reviewed by a real life human, so please be patient!
We aim to have come back to you within a week or two of the closing date, but will let you know if there is a delay. All candidates will be informed if they are successful or not - we will never ghost you 👻
Interviews 🤝
This could be a short Q&A with the team or a more thorough interview with a presentation/test element; it could be via Teams or it might be in person at one of our sites; there could just be one stage or there could be a second one - it totally depends on the role!
See below for a little more info on our interviewing principles.
Next steps ⏭️
We will always endeavour to let you know what the next steps are in the process, and when you can expect to hear from us. If you don't recall this information from the interview, please drop us an email to check.
If you are unsuccessful following your interview(s) then we will let you know ASAP, and offer feedback on your candidacy.
Job offer 🎉
The hiring manager will always aim to call you on your mobile to offer you the role - it's an exciting moment and we want to share that with you!
We will make sure we communicate all the important details (salary, start date etc) and answer any queries you have before accepting.
Welcome to the team 💚
Our HR team will get in touch and draw up the paperwork once we have received a verbal/email acceptance of the offer from you.
Your new line manager will be in touch periodically from now until your start date to ensure you're ready and excited to join our lifesaving team 💪
Inclusive interviews
We are committed to ensuring that our interview process is as inclusive and accessible as possible. We will always offer the chance for reasonable adjustments to be made when you are invited to an interview, and will share as much as we can about the format and content of the meeting with you in advance so that you can prepare thoroughly and perform at your best.
Our interview processes will never involve more than two formal meetings, and at every stage we want you to have the chance to ask your own questions and learn about how a career at Anthony Nolan could suit you, not just how your experience and skills could suit us.
If you have any concerns about the process at any time, please do drop us an email and we'll do our best to support you.

Hybrid working arrangements and expectations vary significantly across different teams at Anthony Nolan. We have some teams working full-time on site in a hospital or a lab, some who work most of the week from our offices, and some who only need to come in a few times a month, if that. This flexibility is important to us, but we also want most roles to spend some time on site with their teams to foster collaboration and strong relationships.
We aim to make it clear on the advert for each role what the expectation would be for that specific team - this can be found at the bottom of the advert on our career site, if not seen within the body of the advert text.
